Two SUR notes were submitted during the year.
R.B.Thosar and A.L.Samuel, "Some Preliminary Experiments in Speech
Recognition Using Signature Table Learning", ARPA Speech Understanding
Resaerch Group Note 43.
R.B.Thosar, "Estimation of Probability Densities Using
Signature Tables for Application to Pattern Recognition", ARPA Speech
Understanding Research Group Note 81.
An AI memo by J.A.Morrer was issued.
J.A.Morrer, "The Optimum-Comb Method of Pitch Period Analysis in
Speech", AIM-207, July 1973.
The results obtained with the preliminary signature table system were
subbmitted to the ARPA speech group at the meeting in Pitsburg.
Considerable progress has been made in developing the necessary soft-
ware tools needed for speech understanding research. Considerable attention
has been given to our fast pitch period detector and to our improved
formant tracker which does better than most formant trackers even when
no tracking is done.
Three papers have been submitted (and I believe accepted) for the April
IEEE meeting on Speech. These summerize our recent progress in some detail.
